Bumbox is a big and particular source of pride for "the Ukrainian wave"
which has conquered Russia as well. Last autumn saw the
funky-groove-trio from Kiev cover no less than the song "Zvyozdy Ne
Yezdyat V Metro", a Mashina Vremeni hit, and it was featured on the
album dated to the 40th anniversary of the Russian rock music legends.
This, however, is far from being the main achievement for the young
stars of the Ukrainian rock scene (who have recently celebrated their
own, rather modest anniversary - the fifth one). They've already been
credited to write scores for some of the Russian might-have-been hit
movies, and in Ukraine Bumbox's albums are certified gold.
Bumbox have so far released three albums, and are currently working on
the fourth. They've extended their line-up by a live rhythm section
with a view to recording a rock album. The band's new three-disc
compilation "The Best" has already gone on sale.
