Natalie Imbruglia was born in a small beach town called Berkleyvale in New South Wales, Australia. She could have become a local surfing club star, a dancer or even a theater actress, but it was her vocals that achieved victory in that rivalry of Natalie’s talents – the voice which has now become an intrinsic part of the world pop music scene.

Natalie started her career in one of Australia’s most popular soap operas, Neighbours, which has also launched Kylie Minogue’s career. Her supporting role brought Imbruglia national recognition, which kept her in the series for the whole two years; but her father’s fiery temperament called the young actress for another challenge and in 1994, she relocated to London to try her luck, where she was also known for her part in the notorious Neighbours. The capital of Great Britain, however, attracted Natalie hardly because of its fantastic career opportunities for a celebrity but due to its entertainment opportunities and the future prima instantly immersed herself in the city’s club scene. After a couple of years in London, she changed her attitude towards the relocation to the Old World having met BMG’s Mark Fox and Phil Thornalley, ex-The Cure percussionist. They found that Natalie Imbruglia was a really talented artist rather than simply an ambitious starlet, and put her in touch with a string of authoritative producers and songwriters.

The song Torn, recorded in collaboration with Thornalley, proved that they were right and the music horizon saw another star rising.
